In 2019, RBC Future Launch and Riipen launched a partnership with the goal of increasing access to high-impact work-integrated learning (WIL) opportunities for Canadian post-secondary students Our shared mission: to help prepare learners, particularly those from underserved communities, for the Future of Work. By the end of 2022, the RBC-Riipen partnership has delivered over 27,000 online WIL experiences, to a wide diversity of learners and educational partners across Canada with the potential of delivering over 250,000 by 2026.

This Fall, students enrolled in the Post Baccalaureate Program in Business Management at CBU will embark on a course that seamlessly blends academic theory with practical experience. Over the past 1.5 years, these students from diverse professional backgrounds have already completed courses in Marketing, Strategic Management, Accounting, Human Resources, and Finance, bringing a wealth of insights into this program. Throughout their studies, learners have honed critical skills, including critical thinking, real-time decision-making, strategic thinking, collaboration, teamwork, problem-solving, effective communication, project management, adaptability, and professional business acumen. The primary objective of this course is to offer a hands-on learning experience, enabling students to apply their knowledge to real-world business scenarios. By working on a project that tackles current business challenges, students will further develop their ability to think critically, make informed decisions, and collaborate effectively. This experiential approach is designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and practical application, equipping students with the tools needed to thrive in the business world.

Students are looking for opportunities to pursue their special interests and passion in a placement experience. In these varied settings, students will engage with children, families, staff, and other professionals. Students will be supported throughout their field placement experience by further enhancing their understanding of Pedagogy for the Early Years with a focus on the four foundations: Belonging, Well-Being, Engagement, and Expression. Students are available for 20-26 hours (unpaid) of placement project time from Wednesday, February 5 to Friday, April 4, 2025 (Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays) in a virtual or in person (Hamilton or area) capacity. Students will not work during the Reading Week scheduled for Feb 17 to Feb 21.

These learners bring a strong foundation in problem-solving, research, and project management, along with experience using design and systems thinking methodologies. Five students are connected with an SME who can provide an authentic business challenge and hands-on learning that fosters innovation. SMEs are expected to engage with learners, guide their efforts through a one-on-one, share relevant information, attend the final presentation virtually, and provide constructive feedback via the Riipen platform.
